Frequently Asked Questions

Please see the "About Rabbit Care" section of the website for extremely detailed information about how we care for our rabbits and directions for what you need to own a rabbit. Please contact us if you don't find the answer you're seeking.

We do offer monthly scheduled group deliveries within the state of North Carolina, usually to the Charlotte area but occasionally to Winston Salem or Raleigh area. The fee for getting your rabbit on a scheduled group delivery is $30. For an individual delivery, the rate is $40/hr round trip and is scheduled at our discretion. For deliveries that are 5 hours one way or more, an additional $100 fee will be added to account for hotel accommodation.

Please contact us directly either through email at highcountryhollandlops@gmail.com or at our phone line, 828-406-2867. We do not have this process automated because we want to be sure our babies are going to the home that is best suited for them before allowing reservation. We accept a $30 deposit via Venmo, Cashapp, cash or check to officially reserve.

Blue Seal Show Hutch Deluxe 17 for pellets which can be found on Amazon here https://amzn.to/4bfQbrb

and at Walmart here https://walmrt.us/407yBl0

We also feed timothy hay, such as this one  https://amzn.to/3EzMzE9

and oats and leafy greens as treats.

Because our rabbits are kept at our home, we do not have the exact address publicly listed. Generally speaking, we are in Boone, North Carolina. To schedule a meeting, please contact us.

Our rabbits are on average, around 4-4.5 pounds, although some stay as small as 3 pounds and some become as large as 5 pounds. Weight is not specifically predictable at the time of adoption, 8 weeks, but we are usually able to make an educated prediction of whether they will be small, average or bigger than average.

Unless specifically mentioned, no. Baby rabbits cannot undergo the spay/neuter surgery until they are at least 6 months of age. Ours are allowed to be adopted as early as 8 weeks.

At this time, we aren't open to visitors at our physical location due to severe damages from Hurricane Helene that we are continuing to address. However, if you'd like to meet a rabbit to help you to make a decision prior to reserving, we are happy to meet at a public location or do a Zoom call to aid in the process.

Our rabbits are exclusively housed indoors in a temperature controlled environment. We want our bunnies to have the best possible lives, so we keep them inside to protect them from the climate and predators. They do enjoy supervised outdoor play though!
